“How To” Kvass

By Misty Rowe-Elliot | January 18th, 2019 | Fermented Drinks, Recipes

Drinking fermented probiotic filled drinks such as Kvass is beneficial to our digestive system. If our digestive system is healthy & working efficiently then we are able to have a greater nutritional uptake from the food we eat. It’s so very simple & delicious too! I would describe Kvass as being a refreshing & lightly fizzy drink.

WHAT YOU NEED

  • Fruit of choice
  • Raw honey
  • Water
  • 1 ltr Jar with sealed lid
  • Bottle for the finished drink

HOW TO

Step 1: Boil 700ml water & sit to one side to cool
Step 2: Fill 1/3 of the jar with chosen fruit
Step 3: Add 2 tsp Raw Honey
Step 4: Add the cooled water leaving a little room at the top. Swirl the jar to help it to mix a little, seal the lid & leave for 3-4 days on the counter top at room temperature. Throughout those 3-4 days pop back & give the jar a little swirl around.
Step 5: Once bubbles start to appear on top strain off the fruit into a bottle & refrigerate.
Step 6: Once chilled, drink & enjoy!

OUR FAMILY FAVOURITE COMBINATIONS

Pineapple & Ginger
Mixed berries (raspberries, blackberries & blueberries)
Apple, Plum & Cinnamon – Yes, you can experiment with herbs & spices too!
Raspberry & mint

FESTIVE TIP

Instead of those not so good gut loving, sugar filled mixers & juices why not try Kvass with your Gin or cocktails this festive season?
